Oh, man – one of the local players here has a fist team that is absolutely brutal, mostly because of how well he pilots it. The heart of it is really Kobolds and Goblins + the Ring. Basically as soon as the ring hits the field, you are in serious trouble – if you haven’t set up a defense, then you’re just dead. If you’ve KO’d his swarm characters, then he’s still typically rolling 6 characters, which means he’s got plenty to field one or two and have some in reserve to start hitting you. If you have prepared, like with a Captain America, then he just swings as soon as he has more than you can block, and pumps up the guy who got through with Anger Issues. Throw Parallax in there, and he can usually get creative at the right time to hit you for 20.

He does have Spray and some other tech in case he needs it, but he rarely does. It’s really not unbeatable as a team, but he runs it so well that he won both our WKO last spring and our fake one this fall (he added Luke Cage’s global for even more fist pain).

Personally, I lean toward masks, as I also like Bat-family, and you can kinda combine the two if you want. I even ran a version with SR Gladiator (+2A for each other active mask character). I agree, though, there are so many good ones it’s hard to choose. I even like putting the 3-cost Hawkeye on there as a cheap body with a decent punch, but it’s really hard to choose him over others like SR Ronin.

I’m curious to try shields now, though. I just ran a shield rush team in our local Lockout league, using The Front Line with the rare Angel from AvX who is unblockable when you play an action. Combining that with the ring might be fun!

And I suppose someday I’m going to have to actually run bolts myself – I just never have as that is always kind of the default, but it’s a classic for a reason, right?

Troy is reenacting the debate by himself…. Awesome.
