After a day of walking and interviews Deedo and I finally are able to get outside the convention center. Here we are wrapping up day 1 of the International CES. Keep an eye out for 3 more days of coverage! We still have lots of interviews to post!
This was the talk of the town at CES 2013! Lexus’ Advanced Active Safety Research Vehicle. This beauty is equipped with sensors that give it full awareness of it’s surroundings. Now I should probably stress that this is a research vehicle, Toyota/Lexus will things they learn from building and using this car to and incorporate them into their vehicles. Although this isn’t the most aerodynamic or aesthetically pleasing car… I want one! We got a chance to talk with Jason from Toyota to learn more about this car.
When I think of CES I think of different gadgets but I really don’t think about nails. Tat’z Nail’z decided to change my mind on that. It’s a machine that allows you to print any image you want on your fingernails! The machine comes with 5,000 designs, contains a USB port so you can bring your own images or even take a picture of yourself with the built in camera. Still don’t believe me? Watch this video and watch Rev go through the whole process of getting a nail painted.
I was super excited when I heard Apple announce the iPhone 5, that was until I heard there was a new dock connector. What was I going to do with all the docking accessories I had that used the 30-pin connector? CableJive came to the rescue with the dockBoss air! I managed to get an interview with Mike about this amazing device that has kept me from having to buy all new speaker docks.
Ever wanted to add a bit more flair when listening to music? How about adding a light show to your listening enjoyment? That is where the iGlowSound and iGlowSound pro comes into play! What is even cooler is that you could have an iGlowSound party and daisy chain a bunch of them together! Here’s the video I got with Oliver of i.Sound explaining all the different features of the iGlowSound.
Have you ever been in the situation where you are writing something down, hear the phone ring and then try to use the pen as a handset? I know that I have done that a few times. Dexim has the solution for this problem, a bluetooth stylus that can also be used as a speaker/headphone jack for music and you can even use it as a handset for your cellphone! Check out the video to find out more about this versatile stylus.
The first tablet I ever owned was a Windows XP tablet (yes, tablets existed before the iPad) and one of my favorite things about it was the stylus. Tablets now use capacitive touch screens and don’t require the use of a stylus. However, in some applications such as note taking and drawing it just doesn’t feel right to me using just my finger. That led me to looking at all the different stylus solutions out for capacitive screens. One of my favorite styli have been the Adonit Jot. We got a chance to stop by the Adonit booth and talk to Rafael about their newest stylus, Jot Touch.
You might be wondering what in the world is a Mimobot. There is a very high chance you have seen one out in the wild already. Mimobots are designer USB flash drives made by the cool people at Mimoco. I got a chance to talk to Jessica from Mimoco about some of the cool stuff they have in store for 2013 (she was even nice enough to give us a few hints!). This is definitely a video you should check out!
The Apple iPhone has such a large accessory market that it has it’s own section at CES called the iLounge. You can find iPhone cases in almost every conceivable shape or form in the iLounge, Android users need not apply. This is the first year where I have seen Android accessories start to pop up in the iLounge, most prominently the Samsung Galaxy S3. The Win-Top booth in particular caught my eye. It’s a wireless inductive charger for the S3 and Note 2 that doesn’t require you to use a different battery or battery cover. This is pretty important in the S3 because the NFC is actually located in the stock battery. Check out the video to see how it works!
