Friends With Benefits Won’t Make Things Complicated

Here we go with another romantic comedy, this time with former pop star Justin Timberlake and That 70s Show actress Mila Kunis. The story follows Dylan (Timberlake) being recruited to New York by headhunter Jamie (Kunis) to work at GQ magazine. Both of them have recently had breakups and now consider themselves emotionally unavailable. Being the new guy in town Dylan doesn’t have many friends and ends up hanging out with Jamie very often. Eventually one day a conversation turns into a discussion of sex and the complications arise from this agreement.

The strongest point of this movie is the chemistry between Timberlake and Kunis. Both characters were able to work off each other very well. Throughout the movie the characters are very likeable and not very over the top. The only negative comment I have to say is that Justin Timberlake is now getting typecast into a geek.

Captain America: The First Avenger Is Our Hometown Hero

USA! USA! USA!

Captain America is the last of the films made to introduce people to the team that will be featured in next year’s The Avengers movie. It introduces Steve Rodgers, a young scrawny kid who just wants to stand up to bullies who ends up becoming Captain America and the face of the war. In the movie Steve mentions this line, “I don’t like bullies, no matter where they are from.” That line does an excellent job in describing Steve Rodger’s character throughout the movie.

The movie does an excellent job in making the audience believe why Steve was fighting and why we should be rooting for him. At times during the movie I just wanted to start yelling out “USA! USA! USA!”

Relay for Life 2011 – What Can 5 Dollars Do?

Many of you might know that I’m heavily involved with my University’s Relay for Life. Right now we are less than 2 weeks away from the actual event and I’m getting excited for it. Over the past 6 months I have been working very hard with the rest of the committee to recruit teams and plan an amazing event. My current goal for this event right now is to try and raise some money. I have set a goal of trying to raise $100 and I would greatly appreciate it any of you could help.

Some people might be wondering what is the Relay for Life? The Relay isn’t a race, it’s a celebration for cancer survivors and represents all the stages a cancer patient goes through. During the Relay we aren’t racing, we have at least 1 of our team members on the track all the time. This relay goes over night, cancer never rests so we don’t either. It is an amazing event and I highly suggest you go to a relay near you to experience it if you have never gone to one before. With any luck I’ll be able to broadcast some of it on my live page so you can get a glimpse of what it is like.

Crosstown – The place where you meet Piggy!

Crosstown is an indie XboX live game that you can get for 80 Microsoft points. This game really takes it back to the old school days where graphics were simple and for a game to shine it required good game mechanics. It is based on an old Commodore 64 game called Crossroads. It takes it down to even starting off the game showing the player inserting a disk and turning the machine on.

The game play is really simple, you navigate the maze to collect glowing orbs called qreds. When you collect 4 the level ends. Sounds simple enough right?

Better Late Than Never

Usually when talking about your future plans it is usually for New Years or something drastically changed in your life. Why am I doing it now? Simply it’s because I haven’t had time until now (I actually don’t have time right now I just wanted to take a break from studying). I also just wanted to put this down before I forget what I was going to do and do something entirely different. Now off and away we go into my mind!

So what now? Well if you have been following me on twitter or on my lifestream you probably know that I am working on a website right now. Yes 1337 lines is one of my new projects I have decided to work on. The funny thing is I have always said I should write a book that consists of geeky pickup lines. Then I thought to myself that a website would be so much easier to do.

Social Cycle

Has anyone ever noticed that we as humans tend to go through social cycles? You are probably wondering what in the world am I talking about. I will try my best to explain what I mean. Take for an example you are in a new social setting, such as starting a new semester at school. You meet people and then after a bit you start to socialize with a regular group of people. The socializing keeps going on for an amount of time that varies from a few weeks to years. Then you start to drift away from the group of people that you socialize with, until eventually you hardly are in contact with any of them. That is the general idea of what I mean when I say social cycle.

Does that situation sound familiar to anyone? I know I have gone through a few social cycles myself. What I noticed is that it happens more often online. I think that social cycles occur more frequently online because of things like chat rooms, instant messaging and twitter. All these tools offer ways of communicating with someone immediately.  They also bring together people who have common interests from different places that normally would not be possible offline.

An example of a social cycle I experienced was when I first started using the Internet.

Trying out something new

I have always been wanted to try out this blogging thing. I did manage to do it once on live journal (which I think still exists). The problem was that I really didn’t get into it because I never could think of content. So here I am trying to start anew. The actual reason for trying to do this again is because I wanted to try out Weebly (which really rocks! Expect a review of it soon!). I noticed they had a blog feature which renewed my interest in blogging. So here we are the first post in the blog. I’m not really sure what is going to end up here, maybe a few reviews or random thoughts I get. I do have a feeling many of my random thoughts that are too long for twitter will end up here. If you guys have any suggestions for the site and blog feel free to contact me. I am always looking for ways to improve!

I’m also thinking of buying a domain name. Help me decide by voting to your right! Thanks!

*Edit*

Fixed a few grammar mistakes. I just learned I can’t blog and do other things at the same time very well! Thanks dmax.
