Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai Review

It’s time for the fall season releases of anime, and i feel that i should mention, Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai or known as I Don’t Have Many Friends. I picked this one up on a whim since it sounded funny, and that’s what i got and a bit more. At 1st starts with a highschool boy named Hasegawa Kodaka who unfortunately for him looks like a delinquent. Mainly due to his hair and just the way he looks, but really is a nice guy just looking to meet friends. So as you would think one thing leads to another and misunderstandings keep getting worse till one day he meets a girl by the name of Yozora Mikazuki. This event leads them into forming a new club called, The Neighbor’s Club. This was formed for the soul purpose of making friends and gaining social skills.

Yea i know it sounds kinda “meh” but i’ve come to laugh at this one. I find it to be a nice comedy, romance anime genre. So this show i would at least give it a shot.  Also if you want more info about it check out ANN.

Rain Coat Monkey Suruga Kanbaru Figma!

Here we have the 4th Figma in the Bakemonogatari line. And of all 4 of them i think this one shows the best show case. One of the better features i found on Suruga is that she comes with her basketball so this can go well with very sporty shots, and  a cloth rain coat and this does have some good and bad features as well.

The Good!

It can go on just about any Figmas with very little to no problems. And it looks good too, so i’m hoping Max Factory will make more Figmas with cloth as part of the figure.

The Bad!

It’s all one piece. I thought that the rain coat might open up with velcro, but i was wrong. So as i’m getting ready to put it on i almost ripped the seams thinking it was velcro. Boy would i have been mad lol.

As for Suruga as a figure, i like it and her monkey arm or bandage arm was a nice touch and i just think that she has alot compared to other Figmas since if you think about it you almost get 2 figures for the price of one since you get a “shadow” face and a whole new arm with that rain coat. So it’s almost like a new figure with her. There will be one more and maybe the last Figma to come out from the Bakemonogatai line that’s due this December. I hope to pick it up as well since i’ve come this far from this line. But also it seems that from my past posts, i get talk about the panda car and i think i’ll be keeping that with this Figma line. Enjoy!

Blowing crap outta the skys!! Ace Combat Assault Horizon!

I’ve been playing Ace Combat Assault Horizon for about a week now and for all you hardcore Ace Combat players will think that, “This isn’t a flight sim anymore?!” That is right, Ace Combat AH has moved to a Arcade style flight game. So the mine difference is that if you so happen to crash into the ground (like i do) you will not just die unless you have taken alot of damage. But the new features is the new “Assault System”. When you are tailing your enemy air craft a green circle will pop on them, as you hit both your bumpers to go into the AS. This lets you get close to them and do massive damage to your enemy. But like the saying goes, “An eye for an eye.” The enemies can also get you in AS as well, but don’t think it’s the end of the world since you can do… Yes you called it, “A Barrel Roll!!” This maneuver is kinda hard to pick up at 1st but as you (forced into) learn the game as you play it will become easier. Just watch out when you get 2-3 enemies on your butt.

Now comes the likes, and dislikes about Ace Combat Assault Horizon.

Likes!

– Since they broke off the flight sim i was thinking this was going to play like After Burner or some other arcade style flyer. But it doesn’t, Ace Combat AH did keep all the elements of all the past Ace Combats in this with a very good story. Plus the intro was just freak’n awesome.

– Game play is just fun, with some of the new features like air break while turning makes it so you can do evasive turns was a nice plus, something i hoped to see from Ace Combat at some point.

– Combat system can still be played like the older versions of Ace Combat but if you want to hit them better then you’ll wanna get into the AS.

– And i think my favorite thing about this game is the different modes you can play. Some missions you play as your air craft but others you’ll play as a Apacheor a gunner on a bomber and also play in the seat of a mini gunner on the side of a Helicopter.

Dislikes!

– Like the other Ace Combat games it can turn into a circle dog fight and all your trying to do is get behind the plane as they are doing the same. So this can lead into trying to catch your own tail.

– When you get put into the AS and the enemy does get close enough to you and you can’t do a barrel roll it’s over, not to mention it’s very hard to get outta it when your in it. And when you have 2 on your butt your good as dead sometimes.

– I know i put this in my likes but i also dislike the AS. In some missions you’ll do a bomb mission like in past Ace Combats but they let you get into a run in the AS and sometimes that can get just horribly bad. I just found it much easier to take them out the old fashion way. Though the AS bombing runs mission was fun.

Over all the game is a great flyer game and if your a fan of Ace Combat i’m sure you’ll find a place for this in your heart and for everyone else who wants a action game outside the FPS RTS or just want to try something new, get this! It’s worth to check out if your a flyer game fan at the very least.

Interview with the Dead.

Here we have another Black Rock Shooter (BRS) Figma, Dead Master. With a large bone looking scythe and 2 floating skulls, this Figma does prove to be very nice and very unique. From the BRS Figma line, Dead Master is one of the harder ones to find and thus has become rare among collectors.

Like most of the Figma lines, Dead Master does show to be very possible for various battle scenes or action posses. But alike some Figmas, there is some things about this one that are annoying. The 2 skulls that she comes with have a hard time fitting into the stand that come with. I don’t want to force them in to hard since i’ve had issues of almost/have broke parts of the figures by doing that. Since her hands are very long and boney like, getting her to hold the scythe can be hard and if your also trying to be careful, you’ll have a small fight waiting for you trying to get her to hold that. This isn’t a real issue but more of me just being careful, but the wings on her back i just feel could break off easy. So if you just got Dead Master i would be very careful around her back area.

If your a BRS fan and want to get Dead Master for your collection i would advise to check out http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/ since i’ve seen her pop up there from time to time for about 4000 yen.

Digital Diva Hatsune Miku Desends!

This Figma marks the 100th Figma to be released, and for the 100th they had Miku Hatsune be the lucky number. Also with this release, there was an added bonus for a few websites. There was an added Head Phones that came in, Black, Grey, or Brown.

Now, so far every Figma to be released so far has one or two things about it that, well are quaky. And this Figma i really can’t find anything really wrong with her.

Her transparent hair is well done, the joins are very solid, and the head with the hair even straight to the sides can hold there own.

I think one of the best things about her has to be her poseability.

From a few other reviews i’ve read since it’s taken me a while to get her. Most of them said on how beautiful she is or how much they liked it without really saying why. But now that i’ve got her, i can see why who have got her can’t really express how cool this figure is in words alone.

SO, check out some of these shots i took. I do apologize for some pictures that might be bad or shooty frames. I was trying some new ways to use the LEDs on my desk and also, forgive my poor tripod skills. lol

Drunken Oni, Suika Ibuki Stumbles In!!

For those who know about the Touhou series would know about Suika Ibuki as the little drunken Oni always wanting to party. Now this time she’s out from Figma. As you might expect from her she’s very small and for a figure it shows. She comes with a mini Suika jumping in joy. Along with her sake gourd and sake bowl, she can be posed in a drunken kung fu ways if you like. But she’s still something if your a Touhou fan would like to have in your collection.

When i got her there are a few thing i’ve noticed on her. The ball join from her waist to body popped out on mine and had to use nail polish to keep it in there. It’s fine now but still kinda annoying. Her ribbon, and horns seems to also be lose as well but easy fix with super glue since there isn’t any parts to swap with. Since she’s so small the base she comes with is to tall for her to stand on the base it’s self.

Most of these problems i’m sure isn’t like that with the whole line, but i just happen to get one. If you happen to have similar problems with Suika, let me know. Anywho it’s picture time!

Dead Island Xbox 360 Review

So Dead Island on the Xbox 360, if you’ve been reading up on this then i’m sure you’ll hear mixed reviews about how the main characters have no personality, or how the weapons break easy or even how hard it can be to control your player. But have you ever had 4 player co-op and in a car just running over zombies?!

This game plays like Borderlands, and i don’t mean just cuz it’s a FPSRPG, but more how the leveling system works. Each “class” has there own strength like weapons expert, or blunt expert etc. When you level (every 2 it seems) you’ll get a point to place into your Skills list. Like Borderlands you have to fill up each skill before you can advance to the next stage.  The combat system is kinda funky, like Left 4 Dead you have a “Stamina” gauge and if you swing you weapon to much you will get slower, but you have a Kick button kinda like the Shove in L4D but that’s where these 2 are very different. L4D you get tired pushing zombies, but don’t when swing a melee weapon around. DI you can just use your Kick as much as you want but get tired swing a weapon. And theres the zombies, they remind of the 28 days later zombies, i mean unlike all the other zombies from past games most will charge and hit you. These charge you and beat the living hell out of you!

Anywho, i’ve had 2 days playing this and i figure it’s time to let everyone know what i like and dislike about this.

Likes;

It’s challenging. I could be just trying to get to one place and pass by a few dead bodies, but next thing i know i’m in a swarm of zombies. Never think all bodies are really dead.

It’s a true First Person game. Everything you do is in your point of view. When driving the cars in the game your behind the steering wheel. So if you ever high center yourself and find there’s zombies around you, you might not know where they all are before getting out.

Roaming. You can basically go anywhere in the game that it’ll let you. I’ve only explored 15% of the game so far so i don’t know how far you can go but from where i’ve been, as long as the zombies aren’t to much higher level than you. You can go just about anywhere on the island.

Co-op. Being able to have up to 4 other players or friends is very nice. There are some missions or places in the game that is just hard to do on your own, but when you get 2-4 more players the game gets even better.

It’s kinda scary. Okay i’m sure most of you will laugh at this but oh just you wait. When you have just killed a lot of zombies in an area and see your clear and start to look for what you need, then out of no where your grabbed by a zombie tell me you wouldn’t jump. Not to mention they did a good job with the lighting so in dark places you my never know what there. Flash light is your friend… I’ll leave it at that.

Dislikes;

The characters. It seems that rock star would have played a part in making of them. All but one seems to be some pissed off person with a sad past and needs a hug. The only one who i could even stand enough to play was the Asian women, mainly because she didn’t have to swear or cuss at something every 5 seconds. Beside the shooty voicing and over done one liners, the rest can be tolerated.

Controls. It’s not how the controls are, but how you can’t really customize them outside what’s givin to you. Here’s what i mean, i’m playing mainly a melee character and i would love to have my kick as my Left Trigger. But i can’t set it there and that’s my “Aim/Throw”. So i end up throwing my weapon at the zombie.

Everyone who you help. Like most zombie movies everyone who isn’t part of the main cast or what not are… Well lack of a better word, morons. When you take a mission from them, it seems like they are just not able to even wipe there own butts let alone give you a list of what you need.

So far this game over all is fun. The dislikes are more on the if i don’t pay attention to them, they don’t bother me. So if you are on the fence about getting this game, i would say rent it first if you can to see if it’s your cup of tea. I can see how some might not like it since it can get tough to play or how most of the characters might wanna make you /facepalm. But this is worth to try by either renting or getting a friend to lend you there’s. I say give it 2-3 hours to see if you really like it or not.

Black Rock Shooter the Game PSP Review.

I just got BRStG yesterday and had a chance to charge my PSP and play it for a few hours to get a feel for the game. And i like it, it’s only hard since i can’t read any of the letters… After going back to my PSP after… well it’s been awhile since i last played it and for a PSP game it’s very nice looking. The battle system is easy to use even when you can’t read the menu or anything really… Game play is also smooth and very clean, plus the intro was done very well.

I’ve only put in like 2-3 hours into and got 2 of the power ups so far but i’m loving this game for what it is. America don’t look sad when it seems like i’m the only having fun with this game, NIS America as announced that Black Rock Shooter the Game will be coming to America, though that TBA. From what i know if NIS and how they work there games, if they don’t try and do a dubbing for it (i hope they don’t) we can see it out by the end of the year, but if they do try to dub it then maybe by summer maybe even by the 3rd quart of next year. (maybe just before the end of the word happends too).

I ended up getting the White Premium Box that comes with White Rock Shooter Figma as well.   And this box was BIG! I’ve got other figures with games out of japan but this one has to be the biggest one i’ve got mainly due to those wings…

But as for her, she’s very nice. Some down sides are that she’s not that poseable compared to other figmas and seems like some parts of her are loose. After talking with others who have got her as well, they all tell me similar problems that i’m having. So if you who are reading this happen to get BRStG with WRS let me know if you have the same problem about joins being lose or parts coming off easy.

This game is fun and i cant’ wait to see it in America since then i can play it again and understand it.

Index Figma Pre-review!!

So now, here we have a fun little figure that i’m glad was finally put to pre order. Index is from an anime called Toaru Majutsu no Index or also known as A Certain Magical Index. And from some of the pre released pictures i’ve seen a few months ago and that i’m glad they did do in the end, is her skirt is made of cloth. This i think is the 1st figma to have cloth to be apart of there clothing.
If you don’t know anything about this show here’s a little summery about it.
Plot Summary: Kamijou Touma is a student living in Academy City, a highly advanced place in terms of technology. Despite being gauged as a level zero esper (no powers), he possesses on his right hand the Imagine Breaker, an ability that negates any power whatsoever. Touma finds a young girl named Index who is trying to run away from Necessarius, a powerful magic organization that she is member of. Blessed with the skill of memorizing any sort of information, she holds 103,000 forbidden magical books within her head. As science and magic cross paths, Touma must face several dangers amid espers and magicians who appear at the exciting scientific town.
(Taken from ANN.com)
So when i get this i hope to have a nice review set up with all the other characters from the show since Index will be the last one to be relased.

Carnival Phantasm OVA

So if there’s one anime group i like that’s TYPE-MOON. They’ve done animes like Tsukihime, Fate/Stay Night, Kara no Kyoukai, and games like Melty Blood, Mahotsukai no Yoru, and Girls Work. Now they put out something completely different. TYPE-MOON isn’t known for putting anything really humorist out, but more on the getting into your head, very visual, and even very gory. But this time it’s just random, and mostly a retelling of the shows as crossovers.

So as it sits now it’s going to be a 4 eps a season thats about 13-15 mins per show. And so far it’s great, if you ever saw any of these shows in the past and like the funny, check this out. And if you know how animes are, there is always a beach/bath house/bikini episode.  With a kinda catchy intro this show looks to be very promising and something for all fans to enjoy. You can also check out these other links to and see for yourself in what i mean by the funny!

There will be up to 3 seasons, the next one well be released in October and then the 3rd in December.  And from what i’ve read, the 3rd season will be coming with Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code that’s the newest of the series.
